Benny Tudino’s in Hoboken

Benny Tudino’s in Hoboken, New Jersey has the reputation as “Home Of The Largest Slice” and I have to agree.  One slice of pizza takes two 8″ plates to bring to the table.  Measuring the pizza today each slice is a foot long by 8 to 9 inches wide, it’s an incredible site to see on arrival.

Benny Tudino’s was opened in 1968 and Benny can be found at the restaurant each and everyday overseeing his business and taking pictures with anyone who wants one.  He’s what I would consider an old world Italian, very sweet to talk to and so happy that you came to his restaurant to have lunch or dinner.

When walking in you can see the place has not been touched since 1968 which is very reminiscent of how Hoboken was back in that time.  The staff is friendly and reminds me of the waitresses at Mel’s Diner.  Portions are HUGE and the prices are so down to earth you feel like you got a steal when the bill comes.  You can easily share a main dish and still have left overs to take home.  My dinning partner and I decided to go with the traditions of Italy for lunch.  Expect to have everything brought to your table Hot, Hot, Hot they cook everything to order right there, so give it a minute or two to cool off for consumption.

We each had a bowl of Italian Chicken Soup for $4.00, I had a plain slice of Pizza for $3.00 and my partner had a slice of Pizza with Sweet Italian Sausage for $4.00.  We should have stopped there, but we went on and had a Chicken Parmigiana Sandwich, which was over a foot long and stuffed with 4 plump Chicken Breast, delicious Red Gravy, Mozzarella & Parmigiano Cheese for $8.00 and a Ham & Cheese Calzone for $6.00.  There is an outdoor dinning area and they do deliver locally.  You can view their menu at www.hudsonmenus.com/restaurants/benny-tudinos.htm.

As we were waiting for our ride, I did notice someone on the outside patio ordered the Appetizer, Fried Calamari for $10.00 and it looked good.  It was a large family style portion piled nearly a foot high with a Marinara dipping sauce.  Benny’s does serve Beer & Wine on the premises.
